Western Regional Summer Institute for Union Women

The Western Regional Summer Institute for Union Women (SIUW), this year is being held in Portland, Oregon. The registration brochure is attached below for your reference. This SIUW has the support of our Federation of Labour, and will again feature co-facilitators from both BC and the United States.

As you may know, each year the Western Regional SIUW rotates between the supporting organizations, taking place in certain Western States and British Columbia.  Because the 2010 Western Regional Summer Institute is so close to home, the Federation will not be holding a BC SIUW in 2010, but has postponed this to 2011.   We are working with our Sisters in Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaii to develop an exciting and inspiring 4-day Conference around the theme, "Women's Work:  Organizing in Hard Times."

The focus this year will be on the economy and how women can and do organize under difficult conditions.  Classes will include Collective Bargaining, Worksite Organizing, Political Organizing, Economics, Leadership and much more!  Meet other women activists and gain new and renewed energy!  Portland is just a short drive south, so we hope you will send your members and support this year’s Western Regional Summer Institute for Union Women.
