B.C. Federation of Labour takes minimum wage campaign to MLAs
Date: Wednesday October 31, 2007 from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm
Tomorrow, a delegation of community groups and low-wage earners will be joined by the B.C. Federation of Labour to meet with provincial MLA's regarding the Federation's Campaign to boost BC's minimum wage to $10.
The Delegation will also be attending the opening of the afternoon session of the legislature, where it is anticipated that the Federation $10 NOW petition, totaling over 40,000 names, will be tabled.
Prior to meetings with MLAs, the Delegation will be available to media.

Close to 40,000 British Columbians have signed the Federation's $10 NOW petition so far.
Some 30 municipal councils, the Union of BC Municipalities, important community organizations and even some business groups all back efforts to win a higher minimum wage.
According to recent statistics, about 115,000 BC workers earn $8 an hour or less, while an additional 135,000 workers earn less than $10.
