B.C. Federation of Labour Officers Re-elected

November 26, 2008

B.C. Federation of Labour President, Jim Sinclair and Secretary-Treasurer, Angela Schira were re-elected by acclamation this morning at the Federation’s 52nd annual Convention in Vancouver.

“The Convention is unanimous that B.C. needs to set a new direction, one that puts British Columbians first,” says Sinclair.  “The abandonment of the forest sector and rural communities is an indictment of Gordon Campbell’s arrogance and economic mismanagement.  Heading into next year’s election, working people are deeply motivated to ensure that we don’t have four more years of the same.”

“Delegates have spent this week talking about issues that matter to working people, jobs, health care, women’s rights and education, unlike our provincial and federal governments which are more concerned with bailing out Howe Street and Bay Street,” says Angela Schira.

Almost 1,100 delegates from across the Province are in Vancouver to attend the Federation’s Convention.
