Film Night

For the first time the West Kootenay Women's Association and local Amnesty International group are collaberating together to organize an International Women's Day film night.

The films are:

  • Stolen Sisters-About the Native women who have gone missing on HWY 16 and the Lower East side in Vancouver;
  • Pura Vida- A non-profit organization to support young girls from Peru getting off the street. Speaker and President Marni Beninger will present; and
  • Strong Coffee- Peruvian women's coffee farming collective.

The evening will also include a Power Point presentation of the Herstory of the West Kootenay Women's Association and the activities it has been involved in for the last 37 years.  Raging Grannies will be singing. Touchstones, Nelson Musuem Vernon St.

Five Feminist Minutes.  For five minutes women performers only, can take the stage and be as creative, political and as entertaining as possible in their five minutes of stardom.  Fantastic fundraiser and very entertaining event, which has been taking place in the Kootenays for over twenty years.
